This varied, hands-on opportunity will enable you to take ownership of the organisation’s technology environment, making a positive impact across infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity and business technology. You’ll be the go-to technology specialist, working across Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Intune, SharePoint, networking, cybersecurity, telecommunications and business systems.

The role is suited to someone who enjoys getting into the detail — not just recommending solutions, but designing, implementing, troubleshooting and improving them. You’ll also identify where technology can make the business more efficient, including through automation, AI, integration and process improvement.

Your varied responsibilities will involve;

Infrastructure, Cloud & Systems

  • Managing, supporting and continuously improving Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Intune and SharePoint environments.
  • Managing user access, identity, devices, security policies and cloud services.
  • Configuring, maintaining and improving infrastructure, systems and cloud environments.
  • Managing and troubleshooting networking, VPNs, Wi-Fi, firewalls and connectivity.
  • Monitoring system performance, reliability, capacity and security.
  • Maintaining technical documentation, processes and standards.

Business Technology & Continuous Improvement

  • Working with stakeholders to understand business challenges and technology requirements.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency and business processes.
  • Assessing different technology options, Identifying opportunities for automation, integration and AI.
  • Researching emerging technologies and assessing where they could provide genuine business value.
  • Challenging existing processes and system and providing recommendations

Technology Projects

  • Taking ownership of technology projects from initial requirements through to implementation.
  • Planning, configuring, testing and implementing technology solutions.
  • Coordinating with internal stakeholders, vendors and external technology providers.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered effectively and achieve the intended business outcomes.
  • Documenting new solutions and ensuring appropriate handover and support processes are in place.

Cybersecurity, Backup & Resilience

  • Ensuring systems are secure, reliable and fit for purpose.
  • Maintaining and improving cybersecurity controls and best practices.
  • Monitoring and reviewing the organisation’s security and identifying vulnerabilities, risks and opportunities to strengthen the technology environment.
  • Managing backup, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
  • Participating in incident response and security investigations.

Vendors & Technology Partners

  • Managing day-to-day relationships with technology vendors, telecommunications providers, MSPs and other external partners.
  • Assessing vendor recommendations and ensuring solutions align with business requirements.
  • Monitoring service delivery, performance and value.
  • Assisting with technology contracts, renewals and service reviews.

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years hands-on experience in systems administration, cloud infrastructure, IT engineering or a senior technology role, ideally within an SME environment.
  • Strong practical experience personally implementing, managing and supporting:

–   MS Azure, MS 365, Entra ID, Intune & SharePoint

–   Networking, VPNs, Wi-Fi, firewalls and connectivity

–   Cybersecurity technologies and best practices

–   Backup, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions

  • Experience delivering technology projects from planning through to implementation.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills in line with business requirements
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of technology outcomes.

Desirable

  • Experience with AI, Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform, RPA, automation or workflow platforms.
  • Experience with systems integration and process automation.
  • Exposure to warehousing, retail, logistics, distribution or multi-site environments.
  • Experience managing third-party technology suppliers and MSPs.
  • Microsoft, Azure, Security or Networking certifications.
